Originally starting as a demo for Wildlands, Ubisoft’s Annecy studio has been working on Steep for two and a half years. The production on Steep came out of the open world development for Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Being touted as the “first open world game that links open world and sports,” Ubisoft is excited for Steep both for its multiplayer potential and the way it takes advantage of the franchise’s new tech. The full game is due to launch on December 2nd.Ubisoft’s movement toward open world games continues with Steep, a new extreme sports game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC that was announced at E3 2016. The open beta will run from Friday, November 18th through to Monday, November 21st. Completing these challenges and Mountain Stories will also unlock new gear for players to customize their characters." Players will also find nine Mountain Stories – narrative-based challenges that will delve deeper into unique moments in the world of Steep – throughout their journey.

Here's what Ubi have said is in the beta: It's set in an open, shared world, with all sorts of races and things going on if you want or you can simply going a-exploring. Steep is a snowsports game combining the usual skiing and snowboarding with some less conventional deathtrips, like wingsuiting and paragliding.
